One 14-year-old boy was discovered deceased just days after being falsely accused of taking the ashes of a dead infant during a burglary, an inquest has learned.

Tragic Finding

Kai Lloyd's mother and father found his body in his bedroom at his Connah's Quay residence on 19 November 2021.

Untrue Allegations Start

The inquest learned how his parent received a message on 8 November 2021 via social media, from a individual asking if Kai was her child. The message added: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my flat."

In a testimony presented to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the media, claiming her baby's remains had been stolen in a break-in - a claim which was false.

Police Investigation

An investigation report from authorities later determined the supposed burglary complainant had "lied to police" and "it now appears that said items was not stolen in the beginning".

News coverage about the alleged stolen ashes generated social media comments, and although Kai was not named in the messages, his mother said individuals "understood it was him".

The "social media content were really distressing", she stated.

Emotional Health Effect

She added that her son had been identified with moderate ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views genuinely were important to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she said, "especially when this was untrue".

Kai was arrested at his residence, but nothing was discovered. He was transported to a police station and later released under investigation.

Authorities said they would be in contact, the inquest heard, but had failed to reached out to the family by the moment of his passing.

Isolation and Worry

His mother said Kai "became isolated" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the police", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could feel like days".

When she talked to him about the supposed burglary, she said her child informed her he had gone into the residence because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the bathroom anytime he wanted, but denied removing anything.

Digital Bullying

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her son was being harassed online after the allegations.

The proceedings heard that a 19-year-old encouraged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no worries on the night before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "laughing and joking".

She portrayed him as a "compassionate, affectionate" young man, and said her "family is totally shattered".

He had been "clearly concealing his worries", she said, noting that he could not bear to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".

School Response

The hearing received testimony from educational staff at Connah's Quay High School.

On November 8th, she "overheard some students talking that the student had been arrested and that was the initial I heard".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the discussion, the educator said she rang the family's parents' telephone and left a voicemail saying she had spoken to the student about the allegations.

The proceedings heard his parents said they never got that communication.

Formal Conclusion

Lead investigator told the hearing he would await reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with individuals with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a prevention of future deaths report.

Providing a narrative finding, he stated: "Around 8 November 2021, unsupported allegations were made against the teenager, a young child.

"Likely untruths were afterwards exaggerated and exaggerated through the platform of online networks.

"During November 11th, he was interviewed by the authorities and after his questioning he was freed while investigations continued."

The coroner determined: "Exists no evidence that the actions or omissions of any organization led to or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted act it is impossible to determine his purpose."
