Local Fire Department reported it used multiple ladders and a pulley system to save the student

Federal aviation authorities is looking into the fatality of a skydiving instructor following he became separated from his client during a jump in Nashville, Tennessee.

Police say trainer the instructor "appears to have fallen from the air without a safety chute" during the dive on the weekend.

The instructor, 35, appeared to have detached from his student and a dual harness, which connects the pair during a dive and includes the parachute.

A police helicopter located Fuller's body in a wooded area hours later. Local emergency crews utilized several ladders to reach the middle-aged client who lived through the descent after being stuck on a tree for hours with the emergency parachute.

Police said several additional jumps, which occurred near Nashville's John C Tune airport, were carried out without incident before the deadly incident. Aircraft from which they leaped also landed safely.

It is unclear how Mr Fuller, an seasoned parachutist, got detached from the safety equipment.

A individual who assisted rescue teams in the rescue told a local television station the client who officials saved said "he was a first-time jumper, and it was going to be his last".

The instructor had recently written about his enthusiasm for instructing people how to skydive.

"Teaching people to parachute has always been in my view the most satisfying role at the drop zone," Mr Fuller wrote in an social media update in June.

"Watching them figure it out and start flying their bodies is consistently a touching experience. Sometimes though, it can become quite chaotic up there when you release a student for their first time."

During that period he posted photos of the wreckage a jump aircraft he was on noting the plane's engine had failed after departure. Every individual onboard lived through the incident.
