Keir Starmer has moved to defuse a politically sensitive official trip by the US President with the announcement of £150bn in US investment for the UK, as the leader remained largely within the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The UK government announced what was touted as the largest ever funding deal in the nation, with £150bn committed from American sources.

Of the total, £90bn was a commitment from the private equity firm Blackstone to channel funds in the United Kingdom over the coming ten years. This was on top of £10bn the company had previously committed to an artificial intelligence data center.
